Philips Hue Tap - Portable Smart Light Switch
The Philips Hue Tap is a small portable light switch that can control your smart lighting without the need of a smartphone. Sometimes having to control your smart light via your phone is inconvenient, such as when leaving home in the morning, or carrying all of your shopping. This is where Philips Hue Tap is great as it works much like a standard light switch but with some extended control.
On each Hue Tap you can set 4 Hue Scenes, either the ones you have created or a default lighting scene. You can also set a button to act as the off switch. The Hue tap can be set to turn on a large group of lights or just one. It can all be configured in the Philips Hue App on a smartphone.
Philips Hue Tap switch can be used as a normal wall switch. You can place it anywhere using the damage-free tape on the back of the mount or using screws. The Tap can be removed from the mount easily with a small twist, allowing you to take the take with you to control your lights remotely.
Philips Hue Tap uses kinetic energy instead of any batteries and is powered by each press of a button. There is a distinctive click each time you press a button and this energy is used to change your lights.
The app allows you to easily assign each button a function such as what room you would like the lights to change and to what scene those lights should be. This can be set up in 3 minutes (Unless you get carried away). Once the button functions have been assigned the Hue Tap can be left without any modifications working to control your lighting.
The Philips Hue Tap has a circular design that measures 0.98 inch tall and 2.95 inches in diameter. The Tap is made of plastic with a silver/grey plastic bezel around the edge. Its a very simple design and does not draw to much attention.
